For Immediate Release

ROLLING MEADOWS, ILLINOIS (FEBRUARY 2, 2009) - The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) will host its semi-annual meeting on April 5-8, 2009 at The Grove Park Inn, located in Asheville, North Carolina.  In these difficult economic times, the theme “Leading the Legacy” has been chosen to illustrate how PMI and its member companies are leading the way through the tumultuous economic downturn we are currently seeing.

In light of the economic strain that all companies are feeling, PMI has lowered the registration fee for its Spring Meeting.  PMI members will now pay $975 and the 3+ attendee fee has been lowered to $775.  Guests may attend at a rate of $1500.  Although the registration fee has been lowered, PMI has not compromised on the high quality attendees expect from a PMI semi-annual meeting.

Topics on the conference agenda include water efficiency, reducing lead content in products, proactive legislation and fair trade.

PMI has an exciting line-up of speakers for the meeting.  Marc Edwards, Charles Lunsford Professor of Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech University and Carolyn Elfland, Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak during the Material Performance Issue Committee Meeting.  Mike Rosen of Mike Rosen Architects and Patrick Mays of Dassault Systémes (maker of SolidWorks and CATIA CAD software) will join Marc Edwards and Carolyn Elfland for a special presentation entitled, “Plumbing Systems of the Future”.  The speakers will discuss the innovations and ideas future plumbing systems may hold.
