PMI Announces Fall Meeting Dates

For Immediate Release

ROLLING MEADOWS, ILLINOIS (AUGUST 4, 2009) - The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) hosts its Fall Meeting, October 11-14, 2009, at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The Sheraton National is located four miles from Reagan/National Airport in Washington, D.C.

This year’s meeting will revolve around the theme “Shaping the Legacy for a Sustainable Future.” In keeping with the theme, topics regarding “green” issues are to be discussed at length.

PMI has put together a top-notch list of guest speakers and topics that both inform and entertain.

In a very special presentation, John Wicks, Vice President of Home Depot, Inc., will address attendees on Monday, October 12. PMI is thrilled that Mr. Wicks is able to make time in his schedule to speak at the PMI meeting.

PMI’s federal lobbyist team from Waterman & Associates will lead a very special federal lobbying workshop on Monday, October 12. They will coach PMI members on the best ways to approach issues that matter with members of the House and Senate. After completing the lobbying workshop, PMI members are invited to visit Capitol Hill to put their skills to work in meetings with their senators and congressional representatives on Wednesday, October 14. This is a special opportunity for PMI members to make their voices heard on a federal stage. This exceptional experience should not be missed!

Michael Colopy, a foreign affairs specialist who focuses on the emergence of Brazil, India and China as world business forces, will speak to attendees on Tuesday, October 13.

A special presentation by Social Technologies on October 13 will examine global trends in society and culture and their impact on customers and consumers.

A roundtable discussion on issues related to plumbing product certification will take place on Tuesday, October 13. Representatives of the various certification bodies have been invited to engage in a sure-to-be-lively panel discussion on topics such as mutual acceptance of test data, green product certification and certification of products in compliance with new prescriptive lead laws. PMI’s hope is that the forum will foster greater cooperation and coordination on issues of shared interest within the plumbing community.

The Capitol Steps comedy troupe will delight attendees with their own brand of subversive humor on Tuesday, October 13.

Wednesday, October 14 starts with the Universal Conformity Assessment Issue/Technical Standing Joint Committee Meeting. Afterwards, attendees will head to Capitol Hill to meet with their federal representatives for the remainder of the afternoon. This will conclude the meeting.
