Rolling Meadows, IL – Barbara C. Higgens, Executive Director of The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) and Tim Fisher, Vice President of the Plumbing Products Industry Group (PPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the fall PMI meeting October 9, 2007 in Washington, DC. The document formalizes the good working relationship already in place between the two organizations.

According to PMI Executive Director Higgens, “Through the MOU, PMI and our Australian counterpart the PPI Group, will share pertinent information on best practices and educational, technical, scientific, legislative and regulatory matters that affect the plumbing products industries globally. We will do this through publications, reports, association conferences and industry meetings." She noted that the parties will exchange invitations to their respective annual conferences, and bring together in-kind and additional resources as required to facilitate new and improved communications between the parties with respect to their ongoing activities. The Parties anticipate developing a work plan to identify specific events and activities to achieve the purposes of this MOU.

Ms. Higgens said the move is yet another step in PMI’s mission to become more global in scope. "Obviously the world and the world marketplace have changed dramatically since PMI grew out of the Plumbing Brass Institute in the 1970s. Several years ago, we revised our bylaws and membership criteria to attract and welcome non-U.S. based companies to the ranks of PMI. The PMI outreach process continues through our participation in CEIR -- the European Valve Association and most recently with the signing of the MOU with the Plumbing Products Industry Group."

PMI will hold its 2008 Spring Meeting March 30- April 2 at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort, Newport Beach, CA.
