Schaumburg, Ill.— The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) elected Todd Talbot as its president for the year 2002. Talbot, president of Alsons Corporation (a Masco company) in Hillsdale, Mich., was elected at the PMI Fall Meeting, held November 28-30 at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Chicago, Ill.
Talbot, a native of Chico, Calif., began his career at Hoyt Heater Company in Reno, Nev., in 1982 in various sales and marketing positions before joining Brass Craft Manufacturing (a Masco company) as sales manager in 1988. He joined Alsons as vice president of sales in 1994 and has served as the company's president since 1996. Talbot hopes his involvement in PMI will "contribute to the betterment of the industry and return to the industry the education and service" he has received.
Talbot is eager to serve as PMI's president during an "exciting" time for the Institute. "I am pleased to see the change in PMI from a trade organization that existed primarily to provide input to the standards and code groups to one that is issue driven and relevant to members in a variety of topics." As president, Talbot will seek to continue that momentum. "PMI must continue using that driving force to take a stand on global issues and publish them to the world."
Founded in 1958, Alsons Corporation has been a leading manufacturer of hand-held showers, shower heads and shower accessories. Alsons Corporation is a division of Masco Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturer of consumer brand-name home improvement and building products.
Talbot succeeds 2001 PMI President, Frank C. Evans of The Chicago Faucet Company, who will continue to serve the Institute as Immediate Past President. Also elected to officer positions for the year 2002 were Ralph Herrbach, Cifial Brass Works, First Vice President; James Westdorp, Kohler Co., Second Vice President; and John Lauer, Sloan Valve Company, Treasurer.
PMI's Directors at Large for the year 2002 are as follows: Lee Mercer, Moen Incorporated (newly elected); Ken Martin, Delta Faucet Company (elected to a second three-year term); Ed Pages, Garvin/Guarantee Specialties; Claude Thiesen, T&S Brass & Bronze Works; Albert Walcutt, MPC Plastics, Inc.; and Claus Zieger, Interbath Inc.
Founded in 1975, the Plumbing Manufacturers Institute is concluding its 25th anniversary celebration. It is the voluntary, not-for-profit national trade association of manufacturers of plumbing products serving as the Voice of the Industry. Member companies produce a substantial quantity of the nation's plumbing products. PMI will host its annual Spring Meeting, March 17-20, 2002, at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Ariz.
